Subspecialty Training
The world of Emergency Medicine is full of possibility. From EMS to Addiction Medicine, EM physicians are uniquely positioned for advanced training in multiple subspecialties in medicine. With faculty mentors who specialize in each of the following areas, as well as rotations and electives available, residents will find training and guidance available in any area at any level of interest.
Emergency Medical Services
With the launch of SkyLife, TriStar has begun its rise in the provision of critical care transport services in Middle TN. Residents will have the option to ride along with our Heli EMS crew as well as local ground services.
Critical Care
Residents will work in the MICU at Centennial with multiple dual-boarded EM/CC faculty members who can provide mentorship, specialized education, and experiences in multiple aspects of critical care.
Pediatric Emergency Medicine
With a semi-integrated pediatrics experience, residents are certain to experience the full breadth of pediatric seasonal pathologies. Our board-certified PEM physicians have won multiple previous teaching awards.
ultrasound
Ultrasound is a standard part of how we evaluate and treat patients in the ED. With focused ultrasound training from a board-certified physician, residents will be prepared to begin using POCUS after their month of orientation.
Addiction Medicine
With two Addiction Medicine faculty members, residents will have the opportunity to participate on the inpatient addiction consult service team as an elective experience. Training in addiction medicine is woven throughout the curriculum.
toxicology
Under the guidance of a board-certified Toxicologists, residents will participate in a senior rotation in tox with additional electives available as desired. Tox is also a huge part of what we do, day in and day out, at Skyline.
Medical Education & Simulation
Our state-of-the-art simulation center allows for experiential learning to be an integrated part of education. Through electives and dedicated mentorship, residents will be ready for future fellowships if desired.
